Hi, are you going to stay with your friend, if so surely she could give you the advice you want. The job situation here is not too great at the moment but of course it will depend on what kind of work you are looking for. As far as the amount of money you would need just ask yourself how much would you need should you be going to England under the same curcustances. If you are staying with your friend you would only be thinking of food and possibly bus fares. You will have to be a little more informative before you can expect a more definitive answer to your question. If I can help you further do not hesitate to ask. Regards Len.

Can I suggest that you read up and obtain as much information as you can before you arrive.   The Citizens Advice Bureau Spain has lots of information, particularly in relation to residencia, padrons, etc.   If you drive then the N332 website and/or Facebook page is very helpful - it is run by Guardia Civil officers from Torrevieja.   It was set up for English speaking people and gives very helpful advice regarding driving in Spain, i.e. rules and regulations.

Moved here in November myself.  My monthly.outings are 450 for rent, you can get cheaper, but not lower than 300 euros for a furnished apartment.  My WiFi and English tv is 70 euros and.My electric is 30 euros a.month.

In total 550 before food or anything else I might want.

On less you cane get a job where your board and lodging are included, don't. consider it.  The only job you. might get without Spanish is is as a cook or a cleaner.

What does your friend do for a living? Could he get you in there? Got 3 grandsons of my own and think only one of them would stand a chance of getting a job here, because, he is a qualified cook.

Hope this is helpful for you.

I suppose it depends on what qualifications you have and also if you can speak Spanish- the less you have in regards to both will affect the ability for you to get a job, let alone a good paying one.

As others have said, including rent and utilities, you'd need to have at least €800-1000 p/m. However, if it's just sumer work you are looking for and are willing to work for pennies and sleep in a flat share, then you could get by on less...but you won't know until you come out. Just be prepared for a situation where the job market is far worse than you will have expericed in UK.

Good luck.

Will
