About Viks Tennis

My name is Pavel Viks. I am a professional tennis player and coach. I have played through all of the categories of tennis competitions from child to adult level. I have played through all the junior categories in Tennis Europe Tour and ITF Junior Tour. Later, I went on to play ITF Futures.

My journey started at the age of 11 when I started playing in Estonia. After two years of hard work, I got into the Junior National Team of Estonia. I have played for the Estonian Team in the USA. Soon after getting this huge experience as a team player, I started playing junior international tournaments. After some years, I began playing in the male category on the ITF Futures Tour.
My tennis career ended at an early age of 17 because of the injuries that were bothering me at that time. The next chapter in my tennis book started at the age of 17. I began teaching tennis.

During my coaching career, I have coached a lot of Estonian Junior National Team players and have worked in the best tennis academy in Estonia. I have studied coaching in England (LTA), Spain (RPT) and Estonia (ETL and ITF). I have also worked as a racquet stringer during the official Davis Cup and Fed Cup tournaments.

After getting more experience during the coaching courses, in addition to tennis, I started doing physical conditioning lessons. I also have experience in organizing tournaments with 100+ players. I speak 3 languages fluently: English, Russian and Estonian. 

My coaching approach is based on a methodology that I have developed during my coaching career. I have applied the knowledge from various coaching courses by combining different practices, methods, and drills. Step by step, I have developed my own system of tennis coaching. This system is not a basic tennis lesson – play some forehands, play some backhands, play some volleys, hit some serves. During my lessons, I focus on problem-solving. I find a problem in the game of a player during the first 5-10 minutes of a lesson. After the initial problem discovery, I explain the problem to the player and during the lesson, we fix it. The process goes step-by-step. We start with exclusively-developed easy drills, move on to more exclusive advanced drills, and the goal of a lesson is to put the newly acquired skill/technique/knowledge/tactic to use during the points/match play.
This kind of approach delivers the best quality results by striving to create muscle memory of a needed movement as soon as possible.
