The N.I.E is your all-purpose identification number and Tax number in Spain, You need it for everything that involves a official process in Spain, for example to buy a property, car, getting connected to utilities, opening a Bank account and most importantly paying your taxes in Spain, Resident or Non Resident. The N.I.E was set up for me by my Abogados = Lawyers, Soler Berna, offices in Torrevieja. The reason for this post is yesterday I had my Residencia appointment and the N.I.E was required and accepted.
