Residencia & padron
Hi thinking of renting on long term basis. Have Spanish eased up on appointments for Residencia. Also does anyone know local translator?
Many thanks

Uma at getlegalinspain.com, she can make the appointments (possibly not Residencia at the moment), take you there and get everything done for a reasonable price, including tax. Highly recommended from personal experience.

Thanks Cheryl much appreciated but still leaving me apprehensive.
UK Government really a shambles so wouldn't like to move out only for them to refuse the health insurance I've paid into all my working life.
My thanks again

I can totally understand your reticence, I'm banking on safety in numbers, thousands of us throughout the Med and elsewhere in the EU and it is often cheaper for us to be treated abroad anyway. Spain is making all the right noises so far, UK politicians just making a lot of noise, I agree!

Thanks Cheryl I have looked into private health insurance and because I'm over 70 it's quite expensive. Wish I'd never left Spain. But that's life.
Good of you to respond.

Helpful member
We moved to Spain from France last year. We made sure we had a month's supply of medication to tide us over. We had existing E.H.I.C.s, and S1 from Newcastle.
The guy who helped us, his details escape me at the mo, arranged temporary S.I.P. cards using our S1 and E.H.I.Cs to tide us over until Residencia organised. So far so good, except that my husbands E.H.I.C. expired and he was then refused either appointments or medication until either it was renewed or the permanent S.I.Ps arrived. In the event the Spanish system was faster.
As far as I can understand, the system currently in place will continue for another year or two if we leave with a deal, without a deal it is expected to continue as before, as both Spain and the U.K. have enacted legislation to that effect.
Good luck.

Many thanks for explaining your experience. If you remember your translator will you be kind enough to let me know.
Kind regards
