im not yet familiar with the shops in Torrevieja and wondered if anyone might have some suggestions of buying cheap and cheerful bits and bobs such as desk/floor fans, extension leads, kettle etc.  Im looking for functionality rather than beauty.. Ikea is possibly be an option but any other thoughts would be most welcome.  Many thanks in advance!

Carrefour, Mercachina, it really depends where you are in Torrevieja.

Also, see if there is a ferreteria close to you, they are hardware shops. Hope that doesn't sound patronising!

If you want really cheap and cheerful you can also try the Chinese supermarkets, which I am sure there will be one in your area.

Finally, Leroy Merlin, Brico Depot, Media Markt are the bigger name outlets for you to search for.

Hope it helps

Go to the nearby Habaneros shopping centre which has a huge Carrefour hyper market as well as a smaller diy shop (forget which one it is).   There is also an IKEA ordering only shop there.

The many Chinese shops are excellent for bits and bobs but personally  I would not risk buying electrical items from them.

Slightly further afield is the large La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre with its large DIY shop Leroy Merlin.

AKI is the DIY store in the lower ground floor of the Haberneras Shopping Mall - but I've heard that they may soon be bought over by Leroy Merlin - it's a great store and has a couple of English speaking staff to help you - they deliver goods!

 - you should also look out for the Aldi & Lidl weekly special offers - their Electrical goods are German made and good quality but cheaper prices - I've bought Toaster, Kettle, Fans, extension leads, etc
