Hello, i have looked extensively at this. For my first year owning I had a Spanish bank account paying 24 euros a quarter with Sabadel. Not being used to paying fees I looked at it in a bit of depth and all Spanish banks are the same with their charges give or take. What I have done now is opened a Revolut account in the UK which gives the best exchange rates instantly, is free and is legitimate - as a couple of plusses. With Revolut you can have more than one currency account so I have a £ and a euro folder all in the 'same bank account'. That way I can change money back and forth between the two folders at the best exchange rates, but I also pay all of my Spanish direct debits and bills through my euro folder with no fees or bank charges. It sounds complicated but it isn't and many people are going this way now either with Revolut or Starling bank. So I have no Spanish bank or their fees any more.
