I'm with Sabadell as a non resident and like most people am horrified at the charges for running this current account. I saw an article recommending this account with BBVA for a completely free account:

https://www.bbva.es/en/personas/productos/cuentas/cuenta-online-sin-comisiones.html

Has anyone on here got this account and used their switching service to set up their direct debits etc and more importantly, is it as free as they claim? I only have DDs with a few companies (water, electricity, community fees and my solicitors etc).

many thanks for advice if you have switched to this account which only seems available to new customers.

It states “The Fee-Free Online Account is only for new customers who live in Spain.”

That would seem to exclude those that are non-residents unf

Many thanks. I missed that tucked away at the bottom!!!

that answers my question then: it is too good to be true!

they actually state there is no minimum amount that needs to be paid in to get this account, but it is only for new customers and as i've just learned, you have to be resident in Spain to qualify for this.
