You may find some answers in the Tips & Guides on this site or look on the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain website.

If you bought your non resident holiday property last September 2020, your 2020 non resident tax will need to be paid in the month of December 2021 = this year, you will only have to pay a proportion of the 2020 year = September,October, November and December, I am on the understanding a company in torrevieja called Anger taxation services are very good, worth a web search.

We use a company called Abaco in Torrevieja. They are excellent as they handle the tax issues and for the annual fee provide ongoing support for any issues queries you have. This has been worth the fee to know we have English speaking legal/ any advice at the end of email phone. They sent you newsletters etc with lots of information and as we only use our property as a holiday home it is useful to be kept informed. However, have seen lots of advice on forum how to do it yourself and how easy and cheap it is. But we like the security blanket as not been fluent in Spanish or understanding all the many differences between UK and Spain especially after Britexit we can ask questions at anytime.

Many solicitors include arranging declaration and payment of your first non-residents tax as part of the buying process, but not all.  Best to check with the legal firm that you used to handle the purchase of the property because if they also set up your direct debits for the utilities they may have set up a direct debit for the non-residents tax and possibly your IBI (suma) tax payable in September too.  The payment will be sue at the end of December this year, it will be a fairly nominal amount as only around a quarter of the usual amount you would pay as you completed in September.  If you purchased in joint names then you will both pay the tax.

Hi Rob,

I'd recommend:

www.spanishtaxforms.co.uk

Everything can be done online. They charge per property, rather than per person, and for an extra £12 will pay the tax for you, if needed.

Kind regards,

Kim
