Hi! We're intending to close our Sabadell account when we get over in September and are currently moving DDRs to Wise. We have our home & contents insurance with Sabadell which renewed in June. Does anybody know if Sabadell will cancel the insurance policy if we close the account? I have a vague recollection of reading that this might happen but am not sure. Tia.

I see no reason why they'd end the policy if you close the account. It's a stand alone purchase. And with the costs involved, you're probably better to just let it run it's 12 month course.

Don't forget you'll need to give one month's written notice that you don't want to renew when the time comes. Make it two months to be on the safe side. Check all the paperwork to find the correct address (preferably with an individual's name) to send your letter to in their insurance subsidiary. This is what I did when I decided not to renew with Sabadell. All went smoothly.

I recommend broker Gran Alicant Insurance, talk to or email Alfonso there, fluent in English.

This may have been where I had the idea that the insurance would be cancelled from. We have also paid in full so hopefully the policy will still be valid after the account is closed. Many thanks.

Don't worry, your policy will remain valid after you close the bank account.

As others have said, send your cancellation at least 2 months before the expiry date. I cancelled mine by email and registered letter.

For balance ...I've been with Sabadell for 6 years and they've been excellent.

I took their insurance for year one, actually had to make a claim which they dealt with brilliantly.

After one year I asked for a quote from Sabadell they couldn’t give me a quote in bank but they did on my first year of asking. I got other insurance. They then took money out of my bank for the next year which I cancelled the previous month it took me 7 months to get my money back they are really pathetic this is a true text
