Thanks for your reply.  I'm not particularly good with these things, so I'm not sure what you mean?  Are there any 'idiot proof' tips you could share?!

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is software that creates a tunnel between your end device (laptop etc but including other smart kit) to another end point such as a service provider. That tunnel is invisible to you and highly secure. We use them at work between our laptops and the infrastructure in our data centres. My iPhone has the capability too, not sure if that came with McAfee or was native, but you can see how available they are. They are not particularly hard to set up and are fire-and-forget...they just stay there. 

All 'traffic' from / to your device using the 'tunnel' cannot be usually intercepted and the data is encrypted in transit...so 'man-in-the middle' attacks i.e. a hacker trying to intercept your data traffic is blocked out.

I downloaded a VPN called Express VPN for my firestick on Spain, I get BBC IPlayer, ITV Hub etc no problem. It’s not difficult to set-up and once done, that’s it - you don’t need to login/reset until your subscription period comes to an end.There are other VPN’s which forum members use , but speaking from my experience I found Express VPN to be user friendly and easy to set up
