No never had to book, as there are buses that run daily from torrevieja bus station to Alicante Airport and back price 7 Euro, pay at kiosk at torrevieja bus station and pay bus driver at airport, time tables are

Torrevieja bus station to Alicante Airport

7am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 4pm, 6pm and last bus at 8pm.

Alicante Airport (ground floor) to Torrevieja bus station

8am, 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 5pm, 7pm, last bus at 9pm

Journey times 1 hour.

From Torrevieja bus station you can get a bus to Zenia boulevard Monday to Friday, price 1.50 Euro? times

9am, 10.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm, 4.30pm, 6pm, 7.30pm, last bus 9pm.

Saturday and Sunday

10.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm, 4.30pm, 6pm, last bus 7.30pm.

I am on the understanding there is a bus that runs from Zenia boulevard to Villamartin, but have never used this service, but there is plenty of taxis at Zenia boulevard to Villamartin, price?

Some years ago, we got a taxi from Torrevieja to Villamartin Plaza, it was about 25 euros iirc. You said "we" so I assume the bus will be 14 euros, so 39 euros in all and time spent waiting.

You might prefer to pre book a direct taxi.

Cheers

Steve

"You might prefer to pre book a direct taxi"

Pre-booking a taxi is more expensive than getting one which is on a rank.
