Are other saluds offering the appointments for the booster so far in advance Thank you for taking the time to read this

Cabo Riog MC is a law unto it's self I'm afraid. It's very badly run.

Unfortunately due to the massive extra demand for health services here on OC and the incompetence of the authorities it's creating a perfect storm. Slowly but surely Orihuela Costa is being starved of vital services and money. My husbands appointment is for 15th February 2022, I could barely believe it when I saw the date. I'm trying to decide if I can be bothered to try and get an appointment for myself as I am under 70 or wait till I visit the UK in March. Frankly I dont believe a word the authorities say anymore they lie so glibly, they talk a good game but that where it ends. All talk no action.

Hi Beryl,

There appears to be an ongoing problem with Cabo Roig health centre.   My husband and I, 64 and 61 respectively, had our booster jabs this morning at Rojales health centre.  Even the small health centre in Formentera village is vaccinating younger people - my friend's husband, who´s only 50 but has a serious health condition, had his booster jab there last week.  I see so many complaints about the Cabo Roig centre, I'm surprised the residents haven't done more to petition the authorities.  Perhaps it would be worth you contacting Costa Blanca News to tell them about your husband's experience?

Kind regards,

Kim

So sorry you’re having problems getting the boosters. I am 60 and hubby who is 64 got our Moderna boosters on Tuesday last in the Hondon Valley Costa Blanca. As Kim suggests perhaps contact the papers. Good luck!

What the health minister actually said was that they were hoping to offer the 60-69 age group the chance to book their 3rd vaccine by the end of December. It was never announced that you would have received the jab by the date.  The original plan was for much earlier in December, but then suddenly the high risk group was the 5-11 years and they decided that they all had to have received their jabs before finishing school for Christmas. The nurses have been taken out of the salud to give the jabs to the little ones in school. When this was announced about the school children our local satellite salud announced it was closing for a month, as all this extra work is having a profound effect on the already over stretched health department.

There have been lots of talks about changes to eligibility to the third jab in the past few days, they’re wanting to invite  the 50-59 group to come forward as well as reducing the time  since the 2nd jab to 5 months (and a day) or for those of us that had AZ that’s down to a three month gap. So as there are going to be lots more people eligible for jabs, you need to make your appointment as soon as you can otherwise the gap between making the appointment and having the jab is going to get longer.

My salud is Guardamar, you have to queue to make an appointment, again this varies as some health centres you can book via GVA+ Salud, others are basically running a walk in service. Depends a lot of age group, take up and eligibility.

So since Guardamar have been doing the 3rd jab the time between appointment and jab has been approximately a month.

We queued on Thursday for around 30 minutes and given appointments for 25th January, both in the 60-69 age group

Thank you GrahamLynn thank you for your informative post and clarifying what I have read/heard recently but also thought I had missed something! I know of not one person in my area in Torrevieja aged between 60/69 who have been offered a booster jab at this time and I certainly will not be queuing just yet at my local health centre this side of the new year and then being told my temporary sip card and padron is out of date, I am really hoping that the text message system will be put back into place or a walk in centre is introduced. I will wait until I officially hear what and when the booster will happen in my area. Thank you again.

Which is your local salud?

Ours is Acequion and queues not bad at all, although we have only been a few times and went first thing both times.

We only needed the SiP cards we were given earlier this year for the vaccine when we went in November. They were making our appointments as we had Astra Zenica, until realised we were in our 60s and not over 70.

She told us to return the next week when it would be over 60s.

We didn't as went to walk in clinic in Elche a few days later.

Perhaps you should try to get appointment, more people becoming eligible will mean more appointments being asked for.

Good luck!

Thank you for your post, yes Acequion is my local and have seen the queues in passing, I finally gained my temporary sip card back in May after 4 visits to get the original Covid jabs, I am now on the understanding that I would have to go through that process again! As the temporary sip card is out of date also my padron! And that was not easy to get. Also people like yourself have also informed me that they were turned away as they were not in our appropriate age group 60/69 and some were told to return in the New year, so basically I will wait until the rush is over and rules are in place, I mean it’s not compulsory to have the booster at this present time? But it would be nice to know what is going on in our area. Again thank you for the information.
