car hire is so costly found a car hire company Opencar at alicante airport looking for recommendations on them please

Have rented from quite a few but not this company. They say on their site you get the price you expect on collection without surprises or hidden extras which is great but in their rental conditions paragraphs 3 & 4 seem to suggest purchase of collision damage insurance (CDW) is necessary to avoid the renter being liable for damage done which is not so great. You’d need to clarify what level of cover is given without purchasing this & how much the (CDW) itself is to purchase. Also if not purchasing this extra cover is a large deposit blocked on your credit card to cover any would-be damage.

I’ve used a few at the Airport that have now priced themselves out of the market, we used Lara last month who are cheap & also offer CDW in their quoted price. Have used Edi too who were similar. There may be more nearer to your destination who might be good value & if they’d offer to include the airport pick-up & drop-off in the quote you could compare for yourself.

What I would suggest and it only my personal choice I would never give any car hire company access to a deposit which they usually request if you don’t take their costly insurance.
