It has been a while since I hired a car in Spain for obvious reasons and have noticed that priced at the end of August seem to be way more than they were in previous years - I can understand if this is the case but can anyone confirm they have noticed a similar trend?

Also any advice on 'new scams' from the care hirers? I used to have it off to a tee and had my own insurance and so avoided the expensive insurance prices, always went for full to full, no cap on mileage and other wee foibles like later arrival surcharges.

Anybody got recent experience?

Yes I have hired a car recently in July.

Car hire prices are very high at the moment, the popular reasoning is shortage of cars, the Company's lease cars from other Company's and returned most of these during the pandemic.

Try booking with an off airport operator to avoid all the usual scams.

I used Magnum who were excellent, extremely helpful.

Admittedly the price was still way above what I was used to paying but that's just how it is at the moment and make sure you don't leave things until the last minute or you could struggle to find one.

I ended up buying a runaround because the prices were so expensive!
