You're right! Driving thru Rouen was awful. My issue is that my car is leased and as such, I do not have the V5c that I need to get a Crit'air sticker from. Will call the lease company to see if I can get a copy in advance as not driving yo Spain till mid September

We have decided on an overnight stop in Sann Saint Just, which is in Normandy. Driving North through France the route takes you to the West of Rouen, near to Bolbec, missing the hellhole of Rouen completely. Only 2.5 hours to Eurotunnel from there.

Mind you, we're retired, so the extra time doesn't affect us but maybe worth consideration.

Hi there

Our neighbour is a policeman and he told us that it isn’t compulsory until the end of the year. It is being gradually phased in.

Hope that helps

Rouen introduced a LEZ on September 1st last year. There are quite a few places in France now that require them.It is easy to get one the official site is www.certificate-air.gouv.fr (don’t get scammed by Google sponsored sites that charge up to 50 euros) they only cost around 4.5 euros. Mine arrived in around a week (posted to my Uk address).

There is only one zone operating in Spain at the moment - Barcelona this was introduced around 3 years ago and is only needed in the city (it does not apply if you are travelling through).I visited last year and obtained a permit from Area Metropolitans De Barcelona (AMB).

When you apply they also send an email with your emisions category and an image of the sticker which you can print out if it has not arrived in time for your journey.

The zones are in the big towns,  not the outskirts, so if you don't want to go into any actual big town stay on the main routes.

You can buy a tag which you place near the rear view mirror, for the motorways which means you don't have to stop, you drive slowly towards the toll barriers, a camera reads the registration number and the barrier opens. You get a bill the next month. We always use ours when we go to France. Saves time and is a bit cheaper than using your card or cash.

emovis-tag.co.uk

You can also get one for Spain and Portugal from emovis.

Are the low emissions stickers available at the Correos in Playa Flamenca, or anywhere else near the Villamartin area?
