Villamartin is a sprawling housing estate built on a very hilly area. There is no bus service that goes through the estates. There is the Plaza for eating out but otherwise bar and restaurants are few and far apart.  If you have any mobility issues I recommend you look elsewhere to live on a flatter area.

Hi Steve

Thanks for getting back. I didn't realise Villamartin was that hilly. How do people get about if bus service isn't that regular?

I said that the bus services do not go through the estates.

If you want to catch a service bus you need to walk to the main road towards the top of the estates. Usually up hill. Otherwise transport is usually required.

Best to visit a few times at different times of the year. Some parts of Villamartin are very quiet in winter. You will need a car there. Villamartin is just one part of Orihuela Costa, so you may also want to consider some of the locations closer to the beaches and bus services. Playa Flamenca, La Florida, Los Altos, Cabo Roig, Punta Prima and La Zenia.

It comes down to personal preferences and budget really. The only way to know what suits you best is to rent a legal let for a few weeks and take a good look around.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your reply.

These towns you mention, are they in Villamartin,or is Villamartin also another town within Orihuela Costa.

Hi

My husband an I live in Villamartin and we love it.We live in a part called La Fuente and moved here nearly 3 years ago. There is so many areas that are classed as in the Villamartin area,it is huge.We don't have a car as we are both avid walkers and as said before the bus service is not great, but it gets you around when needs be.We have all the amenities we require, shops, banks, pharmacy, bars, restaurants, dentist. It takes us an hour to walk to the beach which is a beautiful walk then along the coast. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Hi

Thanks for replying. The area you live in La Fuente, would you say it's a lively area or quiet. Are the bars and restaurants only a few?

No,it's a lively area, open all year round, plenty of bars and restaurants.Just 10 minutes from Villamartin Plaza in the car or for us 25 minutes walking.Where we are there is areas called blue lagoon,el galan and these also have bars and restaurants.

Hi

When we first came to Spain we rented a flat very close to Villamartin plaza. We moved to Punta Prima after 6 months for all the reasons already mentioned!

Cheers

Steve
