The problem, as we found a couple of years ago, is that the Bank are the ones doing the direct debitting and they have a contractual right to take it straight out of your account!! So last year we tried to give plenty of notice but were told we were too early! I ended up with lots of comms direct with Head Office in Madrid before being successful. As an aside, when re-arranging the cover I found that the "bricks & mortar" element was also covered by the Bloque's annual maintenance fee so I only needed to get Contents cover. As a further aside I am now looking to transfer my account to Starling Bank based in UK that provides a "free banking" Euro account in the same way that we are used to enjoying at home.
