Hi all

Apparently Barclays are closing accounts now if you’re in the EU.

Does anyone know which UK banks allow you to have an account if you live in Spain.

Many thanks

Joan

This is nothing new, Barclays were doing that about 3 years ago. If you have a UK address you can use that....maybe a family member?

The only other option is to have £100,000 plus in an account then it will be kept open.

Have a look at Wise online banking which is very popular on the forum. You will get a UK IBAN too.

Yeah I have a wise account but have now been in touch with HSBC UK as they are global and can open an account with a Spanish address. Hopefully that will suffice.
thanks for the reply..

Nat West were happy for us to retain our account even though we are Spanish residents and only have a box address in town. (We are in the campo with no property address).

Thanks for the info if I don’t come right with HSBC I’ll look at that. We have until November so hopefully it will be sorted before then.

Cheers

We have accounts with HSBC and Nationwide, both of whom are fully aware that our contact address is a PO Box, as we are also out in the campo. We mainly contact them online should we need to, although have on occasion had to phone HSBC.

Did you have these accounts before you moved to Spain ?

Thanks

Ah ok. We are opening it from Spain as Barclays are closing overseas accounts.

Thanks
