The link provided is a very comprehensive account of the reasons for the Bill, for anybody not to the right of Genghis Khan. The issue of Franco and his dictatorship needs to be remembered for the atrocities committed by him, my grandfather faught in the spanish civil war with the international brigade to rid spain of fascism, to achieve democracy which spain has all be it tentatively .

Hi Michael,
Although there are many countries that have tried to bury their history in the way that Spain has buried Francoism, I was shocked when my Spanish teacher told me that, even when it was added to the school curriculum, pupils were never taught about Franco - schools always made sure that they ran out of time before the end of term!
One of the best books I've read on Franco is the biography by a British author, Paul Preston:
