Sorry I guess this will have been asked a lot but having trouble finding what I want, Advice on which Car Hire Firms are reliable and won’t try to rip me off re ( alleged damage) at Alicante.. who not to go near.. all advice much appreciated.

I found it easier to take out an insurance policy in the uk and then refuse the car hire insurance. The yearly policy was about £35 - 40 as I recall, but shop around, try money saving expert for information. I hired from centauto in April and only paid 7 euro for 9 days hire
I can recommend Lara cars, not the cheapest but all inclusive no deposit and no credit card needed, full to full fuel policy. The companies charging a few euros a week can't possibly make any money unless they use dodgy tactics.

I use Edirentacar. They give you an all inclusive cost and meet u at the airport. It’s so quick as they meet u and u are on the road in minutes. It’s a family run business and great to be greeted with the same familiar face at the airport. Nothing is too much trouble. Avoids the long queues with the other car hires we have tried.

You can't beat Victoria Cars, I've used them for years and have never had any complaints.
