Hi Bencr85,

With the announcement this afternoon of Spain's "State of Alert", you probably need to sign up for travel alerts with the Gov.UK website.

ive just seen that the Murcian government is not allowing travel in or out of all coastal towns south of Pinatar as far as Aguilas, except for work or health reasons. They are blaming the people from Madrid coming to the coast because of the problems in the capital. Also all shops are to close except for pharmacies and food shops. This is all reported in El Pais.

I think we'll know more following further announcements expected from the Spanish government tomorrow.  Although, given that all venues "with seats" have been advised that they have to close for the next 15 days, I think that may include banks (our bank certainly has "seats").  Residents here will keep the forum updated with developments, especially for non-residents who need "on the ground" information.

Kind regards,

Kim

So closing the schools has spread it to the coast , perhaps in England we should keep schools open , good luck to all the pubs restaurants etc going to be tough,  the brits will be back!

I see that 7 new cases were announced in the Murcia region, all of whom came from Madrid including a man of 88 who already had the virus.

The restrictions applied by the Murcia government are over and above the national restrictions and restrict movement in and out of the area from Pinatar to the south. As far as I can see all businesses except for pharmacies and food shops will be closed.

Hence all the queues in supermarkets (some outside only allowing a few in). after the wait in the queue some coughing & spluttering! They´ll be taking their wine & tinnys home, inviting friends inside, rather than consuming in the open air. This sorts of defeats the object. Anyway, the local armed police are restricting & directing  the locals wishing to enter the indoor market so everything will be fine.

This is day 1.
