Hi, how long does the journey take if you take the Euro tunnel?

I wouldn't say using the tunnel is cheaper than the ferry to Santander by the time you have paid for tolls extra fuel and an overnight stop.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

How long a drive from Calais might take depends entirely on how you do it.

On the peage/motorway and stopping only for fuel, toilet, and sandwich grabbing, a pair of fast and competent drivers could make it in as little as 18 hours. Take a non peage/motorway route however then just in driving time without any over night breaks you can double or even triple that.

Don't forget also that since last year in France on any road without a physical central barrier the maximum speed is just 80kph or 50mph.

Tolls for a one way trip will amount to around €200.

Those of course would be a purely personal opinions !

We've done both prefer the boat more like a holiday journey to Torrevieja approx 8.30 hrs but we stop for coffee etc also found it cheaper ferry food reasonable not expensive, plenty of entertainment if required one of the boats even has a pool.

Drive from Calais expensive with toll charges and hotel for stop over, interesting journey lots to view but I do get fidgety in a car, like to stretch my legs! And the journey seemed for me to go on and on!

Bon voyage

We didn't think food and drink was too expensive on the ferry, certainly cheaper than UK motorway services prices. You can take a cool box to your cabin full of food and drink as we did.

We drove last year via the tunnel and the journey through France was very tiring. We are looking at using the ferry this year.

It's still quite a drive from Santander to Costa Blanca, it takes us 8-9 hours to La Marina depending on stops but easily done in a day
