My wife and I have mislaid our Original NIE certificates.  We do have photocopies of them but how do we go about getting  original certs replaced?

We applied and got ours at the Spanish Embassy. It was just sent as an E-mail. Don't know if you can call it an original. I've never been asked to show it in 11 years. I've bought 2 cars, telephones etc. I can remember my number, and that has always been accepted.

Just show your Residencia/TIE card if you have one, it should suffice for everything.

As the other posters have said, it's the number itself which is significant, not the bit of paper it originally came on. Your photocopy is sufficient for that.

Your official IDs show your NIE (TIE card, driving licence, etc) and they are accepted as proof.
