Hello everyone, myself and my partner are moving to Villamartin in April of next year where we own a house (outright, no mortgage).

Obviously we will be getting private health insurance as we are not yet at retirement age (61 & 57)

With regard to my finances, spanish house is in my name, and the majority of the savings will be in my Sabadell bank which is also in my name. I don't have  a problem opening a joint account if it would help

I also have a private pension. My partner has no income and no savings so we will be reliant on my finances

I have been talking to a lovely lady named Victoria at Golden Leaves who has given me some good advice; however, it would be very helpful to hear of anyone's experiences who have been in a similar situation

I am not unduly worried; however, I am aware that the situation may affect my partners ability to gain residencia

Kind Regards

Shane

Shane, I find my self in a similar situation, in so much as when we plan to move out (in a few years), my wife will have been a housewife for most of our marriage, caring for 4 kids and then elderly family.  We have savings and I have a good pension in place too, but I'd be interested in the advice you recieve.

Regards

Will

Look for a recent Jim Taylor article that was on this forum, I think, about residence. His info is usually bang up to date. X

Hi Will,

this is what i received from Monica who deals with residencia:

1) Private health insurance certificate to prove you have a private health insurance to cover you as much as the social security would do in case you were entitled to it

2) Bank certificate to prove you have incomes enough to live, it means 10.000€/person (20.000€ in a joint account) or monthly incomes for the last 6 months of more than 700€/person (1.400€ in  joint account)

To get Residencia Certificate - Price: 160 € / person*

Price includes:

  • VAT
  • Make the appointment
  • Prepare all the forms and paperwork
  • Extranjería rate
  • To go to the appointment with you and get the document

Docs I need from you

  • Passport
  • 1 passport photo size
  • Forms fulfilled and signed (I would send them by mail once you agree with the price)
    • Depending the case
      • Private health insurance
      • Proof of income

*Payment has to be in cash or by bank transfer: 50% when the quote is accepted, 50% once  the service is finished

Hope this helps

Shane
