I have just bought a house in Villamartin and intend using it as a holiday home for 2 years and then move out ..can't wait, it will be early retirement  so can anyone advise in health care such as prescriptions etc for the years up until official retirement if not working ( my husband is diabetic and needs lots of prescriptions

Hi Bernie

I have recently purchased in Villamartin

My next door neighbour's husband has to have kidney dialysis every day and said the health care was great particularly when they had a problem with the machine they were using as help was swiftly available

Unfortunately I can't give you any specific information but there is a doctor located in the Villamartin Plaza - you cant miss it as the surgery faces the road opposite the taxi rank - might be a place to start

Hope this help

maggie

Thanks Maggie, are your neighbours retired so entitled to healthcare? It's the gap until officially retired that worries me x

Hi

We are in the same situation as you. We haven't moved over yet, but it will be before retirement age. I think you have to pay private healthcare for a year. You can then apply to pay into the Spanish healthcare system once you been resident for a year.

Something like that anyway. We will cross that bridge when we are closer to moving. Can't wait though 😃
