Hi There

I am a big fan of your forum. I look forward to reading it everyweek. This is the first time I am writing to you. My husband and I are semi retired and hoping to move to Spain end of next year, not sure which area to settle in. We have no extended family so a good sense of community, with things open and happening all year round is very important. I am a people person, we are both very sociable love restaurants and bars(away from the tourist areas)  we are definitely looking to rent.

Any recommendations and feed back will be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you

Liz & Steven

Hi,

Have you looked at the requirements needed regarding income and healthcare to be able to apply for residency in Spain.

At present, I believe, you need an income of around €32,000 per annum for a couple. You will need to prove that you have full healthcare paid for a full year.

If you want to apply for residency you need to put in the application to the Spanish embassy while you are still in the UK. They will advise you if you will need to apply for any visas.

Best option would be to visit when travel allows and rent for month in an area to see if it sits you. If it does, have another longer stay, if it doesn't you can try another elsewhere. Even when travel to Spain is allowed again, things won't be 'normal for quite some time, sadly, so speak to locals to find out more about the normal for that area.

Dear Steve
Thank you for your prompt reply. We are aware of the requirements for permanent residency. We are financially stable for this move.

Thank you for your time
