I was hoping to get some information from someone who has recently gone through the NLV process in the UK. Can you advise me how long it took to be granted from when you applied?

Googling seems to suggest 3 months, but just interested in the real world experiences.

The legal period for reaching a decision is of 3 months from the day after the application submission date, but this period may be extended if an interview or additional documents are requested.

Therefore, if you provide all the information required at the start of the process your application may be dealt with much faster.

Hi

We had our NLV appointment around November 24th last year in London. Our visas were ready December 13th. In the meantime we had to send off one extra document.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you then have to go back to the embassy to get the visa within 3 months? We are going to be away for 6 weeks from 14th December and trying to understand if it's feasible to apply before we come back.

The 3 months kicks in from when you collect the visa. You have 3 months and 1 week in which to travel to Spain and apply for residency in the province you are going to live in and that has to be applied for within one month of arrival.

Can't see any time limit for actually collecting the passports with the visa in.

We collected the visas on the 14th, we had been allowed to keep our passports.  We then flew out to Spain on the 18th and have been here ever since.  We collected our TIE cards last Monday
