Hi. This is my first time here paying €880 for 20 games of golf at campamoar. However the greens have been unplayable for most of the year so although l still have lots of games left it's not really possible to play them before l reach the time deadline as the greens are so bad. Has anyone else come across these issues and do you have any advice?

Hello

Why dont you discuss this with the golf club & try to reach a suitable agreement about your fees,?

Cheers

I had lots of games left due to new knee but unless I went back to uk and get a doctors note with all the appointments I had to attend which I didn’t go back for note.

I spoke to the manager at campamor they wouldn’t allow any of my games back.

But speck to them best of luck.

How many games have you left and when does time runout.

Thank-you Elinspain &rds1234 for your replies. Just asked to see the manager for the 3rd time today as other 2 times he was "unavailable ". I have 8 games and one week left to use them. Obviously l have tried to play every time l am here for the last year but as they have been unplayable l was optimistic they would improve in time for me to get the total 20 games in. The manager today told me to go back and see him in October (give the greens a chance to improve) and he would discuss extending the time. However no indication of that extension being weeks or months. Meantime over the past year l have had to pay to use other golf courses if l wanted to play as l just could not keep waiting for campamoar to improve. Lesson learned is look at the reviews before buying a package.

Hi Susan61, Completely understand your situation. We play as  regular 4 ball ( handicaps 7 - 13 ) average golfers. The problem here in Spain is course / repairs happen sporadically, so booking multi - rounds is risky as you have found out. We play 8 - 9 different courses on a regular basis and will not join a golf club ever for this reason. Hope this helps.  So much more fun playing / experiencing different courses . Happy Golfing.

Thank-you for your advice. That sounds perfect. I made an expensive mistake as just new here and didn't realise about the greens. I think how you are doing it playing a variety of places is how l will be doing it in the future vinnybear!!

Campamoar is unique in that when they did their twice yearly work on the greens it went badly wrong and greens became full of weeds. They are now trying to fix them and you have been unlucky with your timing of taking the green fee package. Don’t be put off doing that at another course such as vistabella as all courses will have a twice yearly greens maintenance but will not last that long so you will still get plenty of time for rounds of golf. Joining golf societies is a good way of playing at lower prices and meeting new golfers.

Dear Susan. Unfortunately, during the hollow tinning in Spring 2022, the greens became infected. A number of courses suffered similar problems. Despite generally overcoming this by the end of the summer, the club employed a specialist to continue the repairs and maintenance. Annual spring hollow tinning was completed this year and again after the August annual competition. The specialist team have been working for over two months now to fully renovate the greens. The greens are scheduled to reopen on Monday 2nd October and will be hopefully back to their normal standard. The last 18 months has been difficult, I’m a member and at times the greens have been excellent, but these repairs, which are in the long term best for the course, have been frustrating. It’s also extremely annoying when golf tourists fail to repair their pitch marks. 🤬 Hopefully, the problem has now been resolved and I’m sure the club will continue with the services of the specialist in the future. I’m also Secretary of one of the societies which play Campoamor. Feel free to join us anytime. We also arrange a monthly awayday at other courses and an annual 3 day event further afield. I look forward to seeing you at some time soon. Happy golfing. 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

It's not only "tourists" that don't repair their pitch marks. Plenty of lazy members are at fault also. It seems to be worse here than at home but I am a "golf tourist" and I repair at least half a dozen on every green.
