Hi,

I have a car still registered on British plates, but have been told I need to get an ITV on the car before I can transfer the plates to Spanish ones, can anyone recommend a garage in Villa Martin area?

Also, does i've been quoted around 2k to process the plate change, is that about right?

Thanks in advance.

It has to be done at an ITV centre, not a garage. You can make an appointment using the SITVAL website https://www.sitval.com/#/cita_previa

Or you can just take a chance and turn up. The Torrevieja one gets very busy so there may be a bit of a wait.

2000 euro to re-matriculate the vehicle seems very expensive. Normal price which would include headlights that dip the correct way is normally more like 1,000 euro so contact a gestor to find out how much they charge.

We use the ITV Centre in San Javier. 18mins drive from Villamartin

We go early about 7.30am/8am. It's never busy and always nice and pleasant experience.

Park up and walk over to the office take log book and insurance details etc. They'll take off you and you pay them approx €40/45

Then they tell you a bay number to drive into and thats it, guy comes and takes over and you sit and watch them put your car through few different tests and then if its passed you get a nod, a stamped log book back and big box of oranges lol.

Depending on the vehicle just buying replacement headlights can cost €1000 or more, and then there is the cost of fitting them which can involve significant work so at the end of the day if using a company for the process €2000 might not be too far off the mark.

Thanks Darro! Sounds like it’s going to cost a fair bit 😩. Appreciate the info

Contact Car Registrations Spain. I used these to transfer my UK car onto spanish plates. They were fabulous and even picked my car up from Villamartin area and bought it back after Itv done. Cost me approximately 1200 euros. I didn't need to change my headlights though they were adjusted. You can do an online quote with them. Great service

Doesn't work this way when you are registering a car. You need a CoC, if not then you need a technicians' report done first. If you don't speak good Spanish it's defo not something you can do on your own.
