We purchased a car in Spain last year. We were advised by the dealer that a SUMA bill would be sent to our address early this year for payment for 2024. Just wondering if people have received their SUMA bills yet as I don’t want to risk a fine for late payment.

Did try to set it up on line when we purchased our car, but needed reference number from suma bill.

Affraid i cannot answer your question but it might be an idea if you set up a Spanish digital certificate so you can log into SUMA to pay taxes, car tax (IVTM) etc etc online.

I am told its quite easy to set up yourself however we used Simpleenglishadvice, they set it up and gave us details on how to login etc, their wbsite link below, hope this helps.

IVTM (vehicle excise duty) is due from now to 10th May. Ours normally comes in during the last week.

If you check on this link IVTM and enter you NIE and car reg you can check if it is in your name and when it is due. You can also pay by credit card on that link

Posting of SUMA bills is haphazard at best, it was 3 whole years before they first appeared in my post box!

As marcliff says though you don't need to wait for the bill to arrive by post, you can go online at any time during the window and pay there.

EDIT: Just been and paid mine now, easy peasy!

We are in the same situation. I've just done it online with NIE number and car registration instead of bill reference as we haven't received a bill. Very easy and paid online on the Suma website

Thanks. I followed the link and tried to pay and it came up with a message that if I paid by credit card and I would double pay when its collected by DD. Information on the website states 18.05 will be collected on 3rd May. I can only assume the dealer arranged this when we purchased the car.

18.05 seems incredibly cheap for SUMA for the year.

We pay 22.70 euro for a small 1000 cc petrol car.
