We are bringing our 3 year old granddaughter out mid August and apart from soft play and the water park, is there anything we can do we will have a car so travelling is not a problem even fiestas in some of the villages

Thanks in advance

Hi, I would suggest Reina Sofia Park in Guadamar de Segura. It’s a small park with a pond and wildlife such as peacocks and turtles. There can be additional activities nearby sometimes.

 Hello

Mid August is so hot that pools & beaches are the best place to be. I doubt you will find many other facilities open as August is main Spanish holiday month.

Cheers

Btw - the pond is fenced so it is safe.

Next to the park in Guardamar, there’s an evening funfair , ideal for little ones. Just note that Guardamar is busy in August, so you may have to drive round looking for parking.  Watch out for the flying peacocks!
The salt lakes at San Pedro are usually full of flamingoes, parking is easy and again at the weekend there is a night market around the marina.

Best place to see  birds and wildlife is definitely El Fondo, but there’s not much shade so don’t go in the hottest part of the day. There’s a big information centre there and notice boards everywhere so you can learn to spot the Spanish birds. Last time we were there, we saw well over a hundred flamingos really close up.

Plenty of crazy golf in the area - Greenlands is the best by far.

Check out websites for Zenia Boulevard they have a summer programme running for children.

Fiestas are almost non existent in August due to the heat. The last one I can think of  including the massive fireworks display in Elche on August 13.

Try looking on this site for up to date information.
