Are you happy for holiday makers from other European countries that have high rates of Covid and low rates of vaccinations to come or is it just the highly vacinated Brits you don't want. Free movement is a lynch pin of the EU

I think if we accept that Spain doesn't have any special silver bullet for Covid apart from it's vaccination program then it should not be encouraging mass tourism from anywhere until it's vaccinations hit a higher percentage of the population. It's not an anti Brit thing just an anti covid thing.

Mass movement of people and a largely vulnerable population are not a good mix unless everything we've been told up until now has been a lie.

Call me a cynic but I think one reason the UK has so many countries on Amber is that the Government is desperate for people to spend their savings in the UK.

I believe one of the Green countries has a population of 400 and no airport! Apart from Portugal most of them are places where very few people would go anyway.......

...

If the UK gov was so worried why didn't they shut flight arrivals down from India the moment the variant was discovered?

Steve

No Steve don't think your a cynic think your spot on, the British government are doing all they can to stop us spending money away from GB, adverts about holidays in Britain, and other ploys, I even think banks have been told to find ways of keeping our money, as I and many others have had problems trying to get money out, had mine frozen with some lame excuse for a reason, and I'm not alone. I wouldn't trust this government as far as I could throw them!

So I'm 55 had both , mrs 50 had both , son 27 had both , daughter had covid and got antibodies,  been tested , 3 of us have bothered to do nhs app which shows this ,  I think spain should have opened up the canaries,  balearic,  and the Costas, but to enter you show nhs app or covid test results,  and banned travellers to the big city's.

No one actually dies from covid, they die of other complcation, because covid lowers you natural resistance to fighting off other germs. Most people die of shortage of breath

Do you trust any government perhaps the Spanish! Who are risking lives opening up without even testing .

Hello Sharon

That's a really nice post & thank you  for the consideration you are giving to us who are resident in Spain, who  are hoping the invasion of many  new arrivals will not impact on us in a negative way.

Not long for you to wait now, hope you have a lovely time here.

Cheers

Hi, i totally agree with most comments on here. Me and my wife own a secind home in Algorfa and are due to fly out on 10th July. We have both now had our second jabs, and have worked from home since March 2020. On the PCR tests, can ghey be trusted? We came to Algorfa last week in November 2020 and had a PCR test done, and on arrival in Alicante airport was told no we do not need to check that jist your Q locator form. There is a lot of confusion around the world at the moment, and covd is not going to go away. In the meantime i hope you all receive your vaccinations soon and keep safe, as everyone wants to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Kind regards dave

Any variants are extremely harmful to those not vaccinated. Much of the elderly population here in Spain has been done, with one or two doses but there are many of us 40's and 50's who are waiting still. For this reason it does seem like Spain has thrown caution to the wind on this one. The Spani...

...sh government should have waited for another month or so until % vaccinated increased to acceptable/ safer levels.

The UK seems far more cautious despite having vaccinated so many more of their people. This should set alarm bells ringing here.

Some form of negative covid test before coming into Spain seems safer or evidence of full vaccination, but alas no.

hi,

i think you need to consider a few things before coming to any conclusions

no 1. the uk has a much better covid situation than spain. less people infected per 100,000, less people in hospital and less cases with millions more vaccinated.

no 2.the uk currently advises against travel to Spain, which means that the only uk visitors your receiving are likely to have been double vaccinated and less likely to be covid + .(retired and can afford the quarantine time)

no 3. any incoming tourist to Spain will most likely have a second home and will not mix with the populous, as in not in hotels etc.

no 4. and most important of all i have a property in spain and cant wait to check on it.......

no 5. statistically your more likely to catch covid in spain than you are in the uk.......

Yes we think it's stupid. We haven't had our jabs yet. Bad enough all the people from Madrid will be coming August.

Bad enough they have bought in these ridiculous new speed limits which equate to 14mph and 19mph and now they change all the electricity tariffs so the night one which was from 10pm till 12 the next day is now only midnight till 8 and the times are all over the place. Considering many people have lost their jobs their businesses what the hell are the government thinking of? They have a test before they go back to the UK to make sure they haven't caught it but sod us here letting them in without even proof of a jab or a negative test. All about the money kerching! This happened last summer and look what happened !!!!

We already know of a few couples who have booked and are happy to do the self isolate thing on return. That doesn't help us out here who have worked hard for the last 13 months to get the numbers down. Why would anyone want to travel at a time like this. Beyond us.
