Hi, our two sons have an apartment on Campoamor and have been trying for about 9 months to get Iberdrola to come down to apartment and check our meter.  One of my sons has got security to take him into the room where all the two blocks meter are kept.  He has photographic evidence that they are paying for someone’s apartment in the next block.  They have been over to Spain 3 times this year and cannot get an engineer to come and check the meters.  My son has spent hours on emails and difficult phone calls i between a very stressful job as one of the directors of his firm.

They now have no choice but to cancel the electric and their direct debit and this will then possibly make Iberdrola sit up and listen because by cancelling it the other person , who they have been paying for all this time( even when NO electric has been used and nobody there for months) still getting large bills, will have Their electric turned off.

What a sad  state of affairs IBERDROLA.

My estate agent and I have tried phone calls to Iberdrola and they just do not want to know, keeping you holding on and hanging up at the slightest excuse.

Fortunately I have an Iberdrola shop in town (Almoradi) and they have someone who speaks English and she sorts problems out.

There is an Iberdrola  office in La Zenia ( close to Mc Donald’s on roundabout)

I have found them very helpful whenever I’ve had queries and they speak very good English.

You don’t say how much your bill /DD has been, sorry if I’m stating the obvious but are you sure it’s not the standing charge you are being charged for?

Thank you for your reply.  My son has spent 9 months gaining evidence that he is paying for another meter.  Won’t go into all the evidence again but the final piece of evidence was when the lady at Iberdrola quoted the number of his meter and it is NOT his number it’s someone else’s, can you imagine the distress and frustration this has caused and it seems no one wants or can help especially Iberdrola.  He knows what the standing charge should be but when no one was there for months he was getting bills of 79 euros, 169 euros, etc, this is definitely not standing charge.

Hi.

I don't know how to help directly, but it may be beneficial to register on the website https://www.i-de.es/consumidores/web/guest/login

(If the above link is broken because of the hyphen you may have to copy it and paste into your browser)

Once registered you can monitor usage in real-time - but that may be dependent on having a smart meter. The site will also show your meter number.

btw - are you sure the contract is with Iberdrola directly rather than a 3rd party (such as Iberdrola Clientes)? If it's 3rd party you may have more luck talking directly to them.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve

thanks for replying and trying  to help.

The contract is definitely with Iberdrola, he has been to their office several times, when he and his brother separately have been on holiday out there.  All he gets is it takes 30 days to get an engineer out and by then they have finished their holiday, fobbed off every time.  He has now cancelled it and his direct debit, so he will wait for the fall out, he’s tried everything else.

Cheers

Norma (Craig’s mum)

Thank you very much for trying  to help.  My son heard yesterday someone (electrician probably) went to the apartments where instructions had been given to whoever turned up ( via  Iberdrola )that security have a set of our keys.  That message was not obviously conveyed and they have now said it will have to be sorted out when my son is next in Spain which will be sometime next year, he works and can’t just pop over.

It’s been an absolute nightmare and going on for over 9 months.

I can understand this must be very stressful for you all - from what you say, and the meters are mixed up, I wondered if your community administrator or president may be able to help.

Or depending upon how long you’ve had the property, the solicitor handling the conveyancing should have been responsible for connecting all utilities - can they help?

Good luck

Thanks for trying to help.  The President says he cant get involved and their solicitor was no help at all, as I said my sons had steam coming out of his ears because of getting no help from anyone, or you get is, ITS SPAIN,!!

Thanks
