Has anyone with ASSSA medical insurance on this site.

I had an MRI on my back at quiron hospital in torrevieja and I have a hernia disc.

On my next appointment the doctor recommended injection into my spine but ASSSA are stating that this procedure isn't covered with my insurance and I will have to pay €2000 approx.

Question:    Has anyone had experience of insurance not covering this procedure.   or has anyone had this procedure and their health insurance has covered this cost.

Many Thanks

Karen

You'll have to check your ASSSA small print very carefully. Is the hospital one of the ones that ASSA uses?

We are with ASSSA, and when my wife broke her wrist an operation was recommended. Plates and screws were not covered by our policy. Quoted cost was €4K.

I just find it strange when ASSSA pay for the MRI but not the procedure that the doctor recommends.

I am due back at the hospital this week, so I may ask the consultant if there is a different procedure that he can perform that maybe ASSSA will pay for

Unfortunately Asssa don't cover everything. There are a few people on here who would highly recommend them but when I spoke with them directly they did state that they don't cover everything. I personally recommend DKV if you plan on renewing. If you're a resident you can still go to the social and have the operation done absolutely free of charge

Didn't think we could access state health care as we are resident but not retirement age

We were with DKV in 2021 when it was found that I had an inguinal hernia. Common enough issue and it wasn't a pre existing condition, but we had real difficulty getting authorisation for the operation.

Things came to a head when we went to the UK for Christmas with family and, because the hernia got worse, I had to have the operation privately at a cost of £4,000 along with having to find accommodation in the UK for 6 weeks for the recuperation.

The delaying and quibbling tactics of DKV cost us dearly and, from my personal experience, I couldn't recommend them to anyone.

If you're resident then yes of course because obviously now you pay into the system. I'm not retired I have private medical but used social health until then

Yes I remember you saying but atm does sound like ASSSA is doing Similar things. Do you ring them and explain or did you just go to hospital? Because I just go to hospital and they scan my card and off I went. My clients all use either Sanitas or DKV and one of them  is a nurse in clincaBenidorm (fantastic hospital if ever needed) and she uses Sanitas because it's free as it's her job but she put me into DKV. I went to Imed hospital the doctor only suspected I had a hernia and she had the operation booked just incase the results showed I had but fortunately I didn't. Again it's down to opinion but ASSSA don't cover everything. But let's face it, absolutely no insurance company is going to pay for anything unless they absolutely have to.

Yes, ASSSA made all my appointments with the quiron hospital in Torrevieja.     They authorised an MRI and EMG.

But the report from the Doctor recommended an injection in my spine and then ASSSA said they don't cover pain relief procedures.

I have another appointment this week with the Doctor I guess then I will have to pay before they schedule me in for the procedure.

I will have to have it done because I have terrible pain down my right leg which is stopping me from sleeping and I've been in agony now for about 3 months.

I feel really disappointed with ASSSA and I have even contacted the Insurance Broker  GPS who are also just quoting read the Insurance Conditions

Take all the documents and use the social, they will do it quickly. But never call the insurance, just go to the hospital that way you get treated. Also I didn't ask are you on the top package because some only have basic cover which mean you pay something
