Hi all sorry if this has been answered before but trying to get some up to date info about travel. I understand about the forms we have to complete in advance of travel from UK to Spain and PCR negative test etc but wanted to know more about driving.

We bought a property this summer but with all lockdowns and restrictions this will be first opportunity to come out and stay in the property as everything had to be done via solicitors as we couldn't get over. Hoping to come out for a couple of days from 19th Dec  (flying from UK to Alicante)  to take delivery of things that have been shipped over, (we are non-residents) and get a few jobs done. We are hoping to hire a car from the airport and drive to Algorfa where our property is.  Our arrival and departure times are not during curfew times but just wondered if we were ok to drive across the different areas from the airport to Algorfa.  I know there is supposed to be an update on the 9th December but just wondered what the current situation is. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You should be fine to drive from the airport to Algorfa as there are no travel restrictions within that particular area. Safe trip and enjoy your first visit to your new property.

Hi,

We have a property not far from you, we are booked to fly into Alicante same as you.

I know it’s ok to drive there, you’ll be fine bit just check spanish Covid requirements.

Re car hire try Edi car hire, cheap ,reasonable not hard sell on insurance and no bogus damage claim... I’ve used them before, also pick car up and drop off in airport..

Happy holibobs

Hello,

Well, you are so well informed about what's required on arrival at Alicante, curfews & date of next restriction measures etc, that's  very refreshing..... so there's is nothing to say except, I hope you arrive safely at your new home & enjoy a bit of sunshine as you go about your tasks.

Cheers

Hi Viv,

Good advice from everyone.  Just on the practical side of "getting a few jobs done", if you need to go to a DIY or other big store, you can travel throughtout the Comunidad Valenciana region so, for example, you could go to Leroy Merlin at Zenia Boulevard or BricoDepot in Elche, but you can't cross the regional border to Murcia, so a trip to IKEA or the larger Leroy Merlin store there wouldn't be possible.

The draft plan, released earlier this week by the Spanish Health Ministry, suggests that the current regional border restrictions will be maintained through to the new year, albeit with some minor variations for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, but these won't be confirmed until next week.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi, we purchased a property in algorfa this year and have had no problems driving from Alicante to algorfa. We use magnum cars all the time. English guy called alfie, great rates no excessive insurance etc and no up front costs. Meet and collect airport. Very easy. We was over in November and used quite a few shops for buying furniture etc. Globales in benijofar is good and leroy merlins in la zenia has lots of choice under one roof. Good luck dave
