Water charges
Hi All
Just buying a 2 bed apartment in Algorfa and wondering what a normal water charge is per month/quarter. Won't be there much but would be good to have an idea how much to budget for it. Thanks in advance.

They are just recouping the sewerage charges that they put in abeyance for a couple of years so bills have just risen. Standing charges and sewerage charges make up most of the bill (along with dreaded taxes and meter rental) so about 45 euro a quarter. Actual cost of the water when you are there will be minimal, probably no more than a few euro a month.
I'd say bank on 50 euro a quarter to be safe. Ours, 3 bed here permanent, has been 35 euro a quarter for the last 2 years but now risen to 62 euro a quarter as they are recouping charges.

I am paying 58 e a quarter that includes usage. It 2 bed 2 bath apartment. It a holiday home, but hopefully a permanent home after more research
Thanks for the feedback. Looks like 20 euros a month will cover it. Better than the £55 pcm in my UK home!!

Just a tip, make sure that you have enough money in whichever bank your standing order for utilities, and then some more.
Time and again people have left enough money having made a tight estimate, which they thought would be enough, and have arrived at their holiday home to find a servce has been cut off in their absence,
Enjoy your property.
Cheers, J
