Just a update on clik car rental out of alicante airport, they have emailed me back to confirm, even if you return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, they will still charge you for refuelling ??,not really sure how that works, it's just a scam, so be warned, and I recommend that you read their reviews before you go any where near them
The only conceivable defence for such a policy would be that unless there were a petrol station literally outside their depot gates then it's not possible to return a car with a completely full tank of fuel meaning that they would have to take it for a top up - in the course of which they would use up as much if not more fuel than if they'd taken it to have been full in the first place - not to mention the man power/time taken to do it.
To believe they were in fact doing that would be neive in the extreme!
Theoretically the same would apply to all rental companies of course so if it were a genuine argument then they would all be practicing the same policy so you're right, it is a scam.
