Is my deposit lost or saved after deciding to not continue with a property purchase?

I have paid a 6000 euro deposit to an agent. I have however NOT signed the contract they gave to me.
My family circumstances have unfortunately chang d and I don't want to continue with the purchase. can I get my deposit returned to me as no legal agreement was signed or is it lost ?
Just adding that on the sales sheet it did say that electricity and telephone were included at the property, however they are not. Is the this reason we could cancel the sale aubjext to the law saying I have lost my deposit .
