Good morning I am a plastering tutor with 20 years experience working with adults of all backgrounds at various facilities including HMP Wealstun and other challenging areas, I can teach plastering, tiling and other trades and have also experience in electrical engineering, if needs be I don't mind getting back on the tools, I am also beginning Spanish classes soon and am looking to move over with my family in the near future, if anyone has any job opportunities for my type of work please let me know thanks. Chris.

Think very carefully before you commit as working in Spain will be a lot harder than the UK even if you can get work. If you are a UK passport holder be aware all jobs will have to be offered to Spanish and EU citizens first and the employer will have to prove they cannot fill them.

Do not be swayed by the ‘laid back lifestyle’ often touted by the tv shows it only exists if you have a good financial backing without needing to work. Many who work here find that they need 2 or 3 jobs to survive and work long hours for little pay.

Your electrical qualifications will count for nothing in Spain and there are plasterers of all levels with unemployment in Spain probably the highest in the EU. I think your chances of job offers is minimal at best.

Sorry but this is the way it is. Good luck.

Hi,

To be able to move and work here in Spain you will need to apply for and get a firm offer of a work position. If you can get a contracted job offer then the prospective employer will need to apply for a work visa on your behalf from the Spanish consulate in the UK and, as said, they will need to prove that there are no EU citizens able to do that kind of work.

Spain is still one of the highest unemployment countries within the EU.

You can't move to Spain and apply for residency without some sort of visa.
