Hi, on my last day on holiday recently in Alicante, I lost my white iPhone and luggage as described above. I had been shopping for presents and left the items at what appeared a safe place at the right end of the beach near decking and trees. After a long swim in the sea I became ill and fainted to had to go to hospital, but when later discharged went to the beach to find my luggage and it was not there. The very kind taxi driver offered to help and went to the police station saying I must contact the local lost property office. I cannot find this office as it keeps directing me to the lost property at the airport. Who should I contact please? Many thanks.

Sorry to hear of your experience and hope you're fully recovered.

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news but I think you'll find that by leaving your possessions unattended in a public place which, however we'll concealed you believed it to be it was, your insurer will completely wash their hands of any sort of claim.

Before spending any more time pursuing one then I'd contact your insurer and tell them with total honesty what happened.

If the answer is that you have no claim, and it's hard to see what else they could say, then obtaining a police report or crime number becomes moot.

Hello

Lost or stolen property can be reported to the police in Alicante. If anything identifiable to you is dumped & found & handed in , you can then be contacted.

It would only be something of low/no value, as anything else would be sold or passed on.
