Hi All

We're in the UK and as with many others our plans have changed, we probably will travel at the start of Sept now and apply for Residencia asap.  My sticking point is we need a Spanish Bank account.  I had it set in my head that we needed it for 3 months to apply for Residencia.  But on re-reading Jim's Guide it says it could be 3 or 6 months depending where you apply? (I'm guessing it's still only Alicante handing appts, but we'd be aiming to rent in costa blanca north).  We had planned to open an account with Cajamar in person in April which we couldn't do due to lockdown.

So my question for anyone who's gone through Residencia, what bank/account did they accept and for how long did the account have to be open? Has anyone been turned away for 3 months.   I'm obviously stuck needing to open an account on line from the UK and keen to have one that has low fees.  If the Application requires a bank with a Spanish ISBN, could the N26 bank work?  What about needing it valided in a branch for the Application?

Any views on account we can open from UK which are proven to be accepted, please let me know.

Thanks

Jill

When I applied for residency I had to show sufficient income being paid into a Spanish bank for 3 months which was enough to satisfy the authorities that i wouldnt become a burden on the state. About €750 per month each. It will be much more after Brexit.

For residency you will need to prove that you have full healthcare you and all your dependants.

It's very easy to open a non residents bank account but can be expensive. You will most likely have to be present at the bank to sign papers.

Hello,

In Alicante province, you need to show 3 months of incomes.

We have help clients using the N26 bank, with a Spanish IBAN number.

many people are denied residency because they don't have the 3 months of incomes into a Spanish Bank.

If you need help, we can make a Free online appointment to inform you and see the options that you have in your singular case. My email is [email protected]

Thank you all for your kind replies, that helps on the duration, 3 months seems ok.  Yannelsis I'll have a look at your website, really keen to know about the bank account option / N26?

thanks

Jill

If you look at the many other threads posted today, the rules have changed. As from today 1st July you will have to apply for a T.I.E. Nothing as yet has been released as to what documentation you will need to provide.
