Hi all,

I am refurbing my town house and looking for a window supplier. Have you worked with any good companies recently? Also, for old town house, do we have to use wooden frames or can we explore options like aluminium? Please help :)

Thanks

Kate

Hi Kate, townhouses in most of Altea old town are heavily regulated regarding external materials. I have no direct experience of refurbishing an old property but if it was me I'd go to the town hall and ask to make an appointment with the architects department. (Take your property details, Escritura, etc in case they see you on the spot)

The Town Hall should be able to advise you about what materials are restricted and who knows, they might just recommend a supplier.

Kind regards Steve

Hi Kate,

at some point a few of us should create an online contractor directory. I've done a few renos elsewhere and i am very surprised to find the response rate, quality, actually even any interest in work, lacking in the area so far. On the standard contractor list one creates for a reno i am finding you need to have more like 5-7 leads vs what was typical elsewhere at 2-4. The biggest issue isnt price, it seems to be no interest in follow-up, and when you have to manage schedules for prior work and contractors you need a significant time between, certainly not a 'free' day or your next contractor will be there before the one who was supposed to be finished even shows up. Chasing quotes after a site visit is also something new to me. If someone comes out to quote work, why drive to the site, take notes, share a 2-3 day timeframe to send a quote back, and then have  to chase people for weeks. There is tons of work in the area, i haven't found it the case people are that interested in doing it yet. Just my experience and Altea/Altea Hills seems to have 'luxury tax' applied that doesnt seem to be the case north or south of us.
