I am wondering if any of you live off your UK rental income and pay tax in the UK and can recommend someone to submit our Spanish tax return in the Altea/Calpe/Moraira/Benidorm area. We own several small long-term rental units in the UK (inside 2 houses) and pay a reasonably small amount of UK tax as this is our only source of income. We now need to submit a Spanish tax return and are a little concerned about how much we are going to be charged to do this. The Spanish accountant who submitted our Modelo 720 (for the first time) charged us 450 euros each. To complete our Spanish return he has told us he wants the passport and tenancy details of each of our tenants. Does anyone have any experience of this, and can you recommend anyone trustworthy with a reasonable charge? Our UK accountant only charges us £150 each! Any info would be much appreciated. Many thanks

Hi 603mlv,

I'm sure we've all been caught out at least once on professional fees, but €900 for your Modelo 720s is eye watering.  We use Abaco Advisers (a large company with offices in Alicante and Torrevieja), and they only charged us €70 each for the Modelo 720 (in 2017).

Unfortunately, I don't live in Costa Blanca North, so I can't recommend an "asesor fiscal" in your area, although you could visit Abaco's office in Alicante if you don't receive recommendations closer to you.  It's worth noting that the deadline for submission of the Modelo 100 Income Tax return is 24th June this year, so you need to act pretty quickly.

Kind regards,

Kim
