Pinkshami,  Well pointed out,

The list of approved providers of day 2 and 8 tests for Amber countries are shown in the link below from  the gov.uk website.

My understanding for anyone flying back to Scotland was that they needed to use the official CTM Booking Portal to organise their tests. Has anyone experience with using this company or been successful with using anyone else?

Do you need to have a P.C.R. test before departure as I believe Spain no longer requires this, I will be flying in a couple of weeks time with Ryanair from Edinburgh.

Did you find an answer to your query anywhere?

Like you, I’m flying to Alicante from Edinburgh this coming Sunday with Ryanair. Whilst official advice is clear that Spain do not require you to have a negative test certificate to enter Spain, the Ryanair website is not so clear.

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hi there

I see no reason to suppose you’re wrong. Spanish government allowing U.K. visitors in without a test. Be sure you complete your locator form.

Have a fabulous time 🤪🥂

Hi gorrobets,

No, the government's websites are not clear on this and I sent an email to [email protected] on the first of June but as yet had no response, I have booked day 2 and day 8 tests through Ryanair and will get a local test 72 hours before returning. Please let me know how you get on as I don't fly for a couple of weeks.

Cheers.

I’ve booked a flight with Ryanair but can not find where they sell the two PCR test required in the uk day 2 and 8.

Can you help please.

HI, can anyone confirm for me whether you need a test before you leave the UK for Spain? The UK Govt advice seems to say you have have a test before going to an amber country, but my understanding is that Spain doesn't require it. I fly with Ryan air next week and don't want to get to the airport to be turned away.

Hi Peter

I’ve scoured the gov.uk sites and can see nothing to say you need a test to leave the U.K. 🤪🥂

Thanks for coming back Alba5.

I agree that there doesn’t seem to be anything on the Scot Gov website (or Uk Govt website) about requiring proof  of a negative test before boarding a flight to mainland Spain. It’s really anecdotal evidence on social media  saying passengers had been refused entry on Ryanair flights to Spain from Edinburgh which has spooked me. Ryanair didn’t know their own rules when the question was posed to them.

I’ve erred on the side of caution and got a test yesterday at Edinburgh Airport (£80) - the result was negative thank goodness.

I will update you on Monday either way!!

P.S. Are you sure that the Scottish Government will accept the test results provided by Randox? I was under the impression that Scot Gov were only accepting those tests booked through their portal - the Scot Gov site states - “

  • book and pay £170 for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 travel tests - you must book your testing kit using the CTM Booking Portal – any other type of testing kit, such as free NHS kits or those sold by private businesses, cannot be used for these tests”
  • I haven’t booked mine yet so would be interested in your view on this - apologies if this stresses you further!

Thanks for the info. gorroberts, I perhaps foolishly assumed that the Ryanair covid tests Randox offered by them were acceptable so I will go along with this but will try to clarify, I plan to return to Edinburgh with Ryanair on the 10th July hopefully things may have improved by then.

I appreciate you getting back to me with your findings and thank you for the info, wishing you a safe trip.

Just to confirm that Ryanair did not ask for evidence of a negative Covid test before boarding my flight EDH to ALC on Sunday (in fact, the Ryanair boarding staff looked at me as if I had two heids when I said “Do you need my proof of a negative test result?” 🤣 ( so that was a waste of £80))

However I was asked for evidence that I had completed the Spanish Visitor Locater Form and that I had been provided with the QR code .

On arrival at Alicante, I went through the “normal “ passport entry process then had my passport stamped by Border Control. I then waited in a very short queue to have the QR  scanned (all very straightforward, but this was probably due to the lack of numbers arriving at the same time).

In fact I was more annoyed that I couldn’t get my pre-booked panini as Ryanair had none on the flight . Now that really p@ssed me off.

In summary, I have been unable to find anything official that states that a negative test result is required before boarding a flight for EDH to ALC - and my experience seems to suggest it isnt part of the Ryanair process either.
