Just to confirm that Ryanair did not ask for evidence of a negative Covid test before boarding my flight EDH to ALC on Sunday (in fact, the Ryanair boarding staff looked at me as if I had two heids when I said “Do you need my proof of a negative test result?” 🤣 ( so that was a waste of £8...

...0))

However I was asked for evidence that I had completed the Spanish Visitor Locater Form and that I had been provided with the QR code .

On arrival at Alicante, I went through the “normal “ passport entry process then had my passport stamped by Border Control. I then waited in a very short queue to have the QR  scanned (all very straightforward, but this was probably due to the lack of numbers arriving at the same time).

In fact I was more annoyed that I couldn’t get my pre-booked panini as Ryanair had none on the flight . Now that really p@ssed me off.

In summary, I have been unable to find anything official that states that a negative test result is required before boarding a flight for EDH to ALC - and my experience seems to suggest it isnt part of the Ryanair process either.

Many thanks for the update gorroberts and good news that I do not need a test before departure, now the worry will be coming back and wondering if they will accept the Randox tests.

Very much appreciate the time you have taken to update and I am sure this will be of help to many others.

Hi there

Can I just ask, when you arrived at Alicante, were you asked to show your return “ticket”, proof of where you were staying or evidence that you had enough money for your stay? 🤪🥂

Hi

No, neither of these issues were raised. I did get my passport stamped tho.

Final Update here is that the 39 euro lateral flow test I undertook at DAM Health at the South End of the Cabo Roig "Strip' was sufficient to permit re-entry to Scotland.

Ryanair Staff asked for proof of this before  permitting me to board at ALC Airport, along with proof that I had filled in the UK Passenger Locator Form. However, the Border Patrol guys at EDH Airport were only interested in my passport (although was asked if I had visited any other country whilst I was away).

Now self-isolating for the next ten days and have just submitted my first of the two Covid test samples required by the Scottish Government (cost £170 for both).

An expensive trip for 7 days but it put my mind at ease on the state of my house which has been empty for some time!

Good news in the end then. Can I just ask you a question about your test at Cabo Roig please? I have to get the same test at probably the same location next week for flying home on Monday 28th. I understand you have to have the test within 3 days of flying. Did you have to book your test in advance at CR and how quickly did you get the results back? Did you have to show Ryan air a hard copy or electronic one? Best regards, Peter Maycock

Yep - despite my panicking!

I booked the test online (I'm not sure that you can just rock up on the day, but I daresay that they would take you if they had the capacity at the time?). Despite completing the details online, I was asked to complete a paper form on arrival. On the day, the clinic was quite busy so had to wait probs about 20mins beyond my appointment time.

The Antigen test was the one where you spit into a little tube. The Nurse then had a wee blether with me for 5 mins then told me I was negative! Got an email confirmation a couple of hours later.

I don't have a printer in my house so was relying on the electronic versions of the test result,  the (UK) Passenger Locator Form and the Scot Gov Test Confirmation (ie the Day2 and Day8 tests you have to take on return) being sufficient.

There was no problem with Ryanair accepting these.

Note Peter that you cannot fill out the (UK) PLF without the reference number (termed "Booking Reference") supplied when you book the Day2 and Day8 test kits. We have spoken earlier about you having booked these through Randox and not Scot Gov. Presumably these will have such a number and fingers crossed these will be sufficient for you.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Thank you for your advice. Can I just check with you DAM Health. Can you just tell me roughly where it is on CR? Appreciate your help.

Not overly tricky to find if you know the Strip at Cabo Roig.

If you were to assume you were walking from the Market Street at Cabo Roig to the Health Centre, you would walk over the Blue Bridge at the South End of the Strip.

When on the Bridge you will see the Commercial Centre with the word "Gym" on the side of the Building 100 yards due west. The Health Centre is in the same building (directly under the Gym).

If driving, you can only really come via the roundabout at the North end of the Strip heading South. Come under the other Blue Bridge then immediately take the slip road that would take you to the Shops on the right hand side. Just follow the road which swings round to the right and it brings you to the Health Centre.

Very easy to find but not so easy to get yourself back on to the N332!!!! (:-)

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks again for your help. It is not actually at the health centre itself though right? I went there yesterday and asked and they said they don't do tests for travel there.

No, it’s across the Bridge next to the Health Centre. Get yourself on the Bridge and look for the Gym sign on the side of the Building, you will see it no bother.
