Does anybody know what is going on with Correos and their charges for "delivery and handling"?

It is my understanding that Spain is a member of The Universal Postal Union. This is a membership of 192+ countries that agree to process each others post within their countries. i.e. free.

Not only are they in breach of this agreement but are they therefore liable for recompense under EU law.

I for one am fed up with being charged for a service which should be free in reciprocation of the service Spain receives from other countries. As these charges seem specific to mail and parcels received from the UK even those which are covered by a customs duty paid declaration, I wonder where this has been agreed and when?

If anyone can add clarification to this I would be most appreciative as I am about to write to the EU to get further information.

Hello

Since Britain exited the EU - Jan 2021, goods sent from the UK are subject to VAT & Import tax, this also applies to uk goods being sent to other countries in the Schengen zone. There was lots of information on line prior to & relating to this.

Since then I have only paid VAT/Import tax on one delivery , which I specifically ordered from a football club in the UK
