Hi,

If you are UK passport holders you will need to apply for a non lucrative visa to be able to live in Spain permanently.

To gain a non-lucrative visa you will need to apply for the visa from the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements. The income requirements for a couple would be around €34,000 per annum and you will need full healthcare. You can apply for healthcare through the S1 healthcare scheme which is paid for by the UK government.

You will need some sort of visa before you can move over to Spain permanently and apply for residency.

With the non lucrative visa you will not be allowed to work. If you have EU or Irish Passports the application route is much simpler.

Benidorm is a great place to live so I really hope you can live here.

Here is a link to a download of a guide about living in Spain from the "age in Spain" organisation.

A couple of websites that may be of interest are:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   This site is for English speaking people and is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.
