On the UK Spain route with Brittany Ferries you have 24 hour access to the kennels and a dedicated area to exercise them.

Do you have access to your dog whilst on the ferry?

Be careful that you secure a kennel when booking as if they are anything like Irish Ferries there are a limited number of kennels for which you have unlimited access via a key code and you can bring your dog out and exercise him / her on deck. If you do not get a kennel then you have very limited access to your dog in your car on the car deck.

UK to Spain, yes any time day or night.

The area has a lock and those passengers who have booked kennels are issued with a card to get in. If you don't have a kennel you can't get in.

You take your dog into the exercise area any time day or night and you can stay there for as long as you wish.

The only restrictions are during foul weather.

We have driven from Liverpool to south of Torrevieja each year for the last 10 years. The ferry Portsmouth/Plymouth to Bilbao/Santander is great.  If you book early enough you can get a dog friendly cabin so your dog can stay with you. It's a really easy drive down and there are lots of lovely villages with very reasonably priced hotels who happily cater for your dog (and also have secure parking for your car) The location depends on the time your ferry arrives and how long you want to drive before you stop. Enjoy.

I drive regularly from Durham to Benijofar.  I prefer Dover as there are so many ferries (2 per hour) which gives flexibility.  I set the sat nav to avoid tolls and therefore dont pay any.  Either route to left, right or through centre of Pyrenees is good.

Avoiding tolls gives quieter roads means you can walk the dog at ANY time.  Only seperated on ferry for max 2 hrs.

Loads of supermarkets and cheaper fuel... Amazing towns..

I love the drive.
