Hi,

We do Calais to Cabó Roig at least twice a year via the Chunnel.

We do Rouen, Abeville, Le Mans, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, Pamplona, Zaragoza, Terrell, Valencia and home.

We travel straight through as we’ve too many dogs to stop, and pay the tolls as we don’t have the time to do the more scenic routes.  The tolls cost about €120.

If you miss the turn at Abeville you’ll end up in Paris and regret it. It’s always busy, and quite complicated.

Bordeaux can often be busy - good to time it at an off peak time. We can do Cannock to Cabó Roig in 24 hours if the wind is in the right direction, and we keep to the limits generally. M25 and Bordeaux permitting!

Hope that helps.

Hi

Ibis in Abbeville and Bordeaux both budget hotels. Clean and comfortable. We drove it 5 weeks ago to our new villa in Catral. One stopover in Spain we’ll south of Zaragoza

Enjoy

We take two Cocker Spaniels from Cannock Staffs to Algorfa,  We go Dover to Calais our first stop is Abbeville. Next day is down to near Orleans for our second overnight stop. 3rd day we go to Oloron St Marie. 4th day drive through the tunnel passed Zaragossa down the motorway, passed Valencia, then Alicante down to Algorfa. We use our Sat Nav - pay no tolls this saving pays towards our dog friendly B&Bs, Fuel and B&B are cheaper also, being away from the motorways, The route only takes you off the toll motorway sections that charge ...... so you get a considerable amount of free motorway miles!!

To use a ferry to Santander/Bilbao is very difficult due to the very limited spaces!!

I hope this helps ?  Dennis & Sue

I drive regularly from Durham to Benijofar.  I prefer Dover as there are so many ferries (2 per hour) which gives flexibility.  I set the sat nav to avoid tolls and therefore dont pay any.  Either route to left, right or through centre of Pyrenees is good.

Avoiding tolls gives quieter roads means you can walk the dog at ANY time.  Only seperated on ferry for max 2 hrs....

...

Loads of supermarkets and cheaper fuel... Amazing towns..

I love the drive.

Hi how long does this journey take please. We would be travelling from Scarborough North Yorkshire thank you.
