Thanks for the info. We are retired and intend living here for at least 3 years, but I will ask our solicitor about the capital gains because if we sell in the future I am sure that we would have made some money on the property. 3% on the sell price can be an awful lot of money, and if you listen to the stories from some people they have been waiting for over 5 years to get their money back. One person said that he will not give up because he is owed it and will not give up asking.
We have only been living here since September 2016 and apparently the tax return would be due May 2018, so a bit of time yet.
However, there seems to be a lot of costs involved when you sell out here, so I will ask the solicitor so that we have all the information we need just in case.
